Civitas

The 2009 Annual CIVITAS Forum Conference was hosted by the city of Krakow in Poland from 19 - 21 October and explored the future of urban mobility and the way forward for CIVITAS. 

The CIVITAS Initiative helps cities to achieve a more sustainable, clean and energy efficient urban transport system by implementing and evaluating an ambitious, integrated set of technology and policy based measures. Civitas is a European network of 180 citis in 30 European countries. The 2010 conference will be hosted by the city of Malmo.

Pieter de Haan presented the Shared Space concept. Among the public, there was a vital interest to learn more about the Shared Space principles. The cities of Ljubljana and Gdynia have declared to further explore how to introduce the concept into their policies.
